Maliheh Moradi - Vocals
Maliheh Moradi, born into a musical family in 1984, began her journey into Persian classical music under the mentorship of three distinguished vocalists: Mohammad-Reza Shajarian, Fatemeh Vaezi (Parisa), and Ali Asghar Shahzeidi. Starting with tonbak lessons at the age of seven, Maliheh later ventured into singing, initially guided by her father. Her musical education further flourished at the Tehran Conservatory of Music, where she delved into both vocal and instrumental studies, including setar.
Possessing a Bachelor of Arts degree in Persian literature, Maliheh received extensive training from notable Persian musicians like Siamak Jahangiri, Hossein Alizadeh, Mozafar Shafiei, Hasan Pazouki, Mohammad Firouzi, Mohammad-Reza Ebrahimi, and Masoud Shoari.
Maliheh's talents have graced various esteemed performances, including the Mowlavi Opera with Homayoun Shajarian, Singing in Shadow alongside Siamak Jahangiri, and contributing to the film score of Atash Sabz by Mohammad-Reza Darvishi. She has also represented her artistry at international music festivals across Australia, Spain, Germany, and Poland.
Maryam Tazhdeh - Tar & Composition
Maryam Tazhdeh is a composer and tar player. She embarked on her musical journey in 1991, mastering the tar at the Music Conservatory and later honing her skills under esteemed mentors such as Fereydoon Azizi, Houshang Zarif, Hossein Alizadeh, Dariush Talaei, and Dariush Pirnia. She holds diplomas from the Music Conservatory and the College of Art and Architecture, and she graduated in Iranian Instrument Performance from Tehran Art University.
Her artistic achievements include releasing albums such as "Infinite Description" featuring the vocals of Master Mohsen Karamati, "Naghshbandan" with solo tar performances accompanied by tombak, "Saghah, Afshari" featuring the vocals of Nasim Seyyabi, and "Hezar Ava" with vocals by Mojtaba Asghari. Additionally, she has authored and published numerous articles on music.
Maryam Tazhdeh has a rich teaching background, having taught at Tehran Art University, a high music school, and the Music Conservatory for several years. She has performed at prestigious festivals and concerts worldwide, including in Canada, Austria, Greece, Czech Republic, Slovenia, Hungary, Turkmenistan, among others.
She has been recognized as a distinguished participant in several editions of the tar specialty festival and has received accolades from the tribute to Master Hossein Alizadeh and the Tombak Festival under the leadership of Master Mohammad Esmaeili.
Saeed Kamjoo - Kamancheh
Saeed Kamjoo is a renowned Kamanche player and composer with a background in Classical Persian music. He holds a music degree from Tehran University.
Kamjoo's approach to playing the Kamanche, a traditional Persian string instrument, is noted for its originality and authenticity, enriched by innovative elements.
He has recorded numerous albums and performed extensively across Europe, North and Central America, East Asia, and the Middle East. Kamjoo has collaborated with prominent Persian singers such as Alireza Ghorbani, Sepideh Raissadat and has also frequently worked with Parisa, the grande dame of Persian classical music.
Ziya Tabassian - Tombak & Daf
Ziya Tabassian, a Canadian-based percussionist, specializes in the tombak, an Iranian drum. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Interpretation from the Université de Montréal and has pursued Western percussion studies under Julien Grégoire.
Tabassian has undertaken advanced courses with notable percussionists such as Bahman Rajabi, Aziz Alami, Trichy Sankaran, Mısırli Ahmet, and Shree Sundarkumar and Yogesh Samsi
Professionally versatile, Tabassian actively engages in early music as well as contemporary and world music genres. Throughout his career, he has performed in over 40 countries, gracing prestigious festivals and concert halls worldwide.
Tabassian has released several albums on major labels. He has contributed to recordings by renowned artists such as the Kronos Quartet, Kayhan Kalhor, Mercan Dede, Hossein Omoumi, En Chordais, and Lo’Jo. Notably, his solo albums, including "Tombak", "The Circle of the Cycles", and "Zarb-e Osul", showcase his acoustic explorations and research on Persian rhythmic cycles, solidifying his reputation as a masterful percussionist and musical innovator.
